It’s very tempting to just plunge in and start posting link all over the Internet, but that’s not the best way to go. You need to be aware of some of the mistakes you can make and avoid them altogether to ensure getting good ranks in search engine and making money effectively.

1. Avoid spamming.
The worst thing you can do is spam. How do you create content which is considered spam? Simply by posting your link without giving any useful information. Of course, the real definition is to give something which is unwanted or unrequested, but in our case it’s about providing something useful.

2. Use keywords in your anchor.
Don’t waste your link by just placing the URL or using an irrelevant text anchor. Use the keywords which are relevant for your websites and for your niche inside the anchor and not some useless wording like “Click” or “here” or “this”.

3. Go for quality.
Find websites with high page rank to post your link. Your link posted on some 1 or 2 ranked page is useless. Your time is the most valued resource you posses so don’t waste it for chasing the quantity.

4. Offer content.
It’s important to give something in return for the link. If you post it on a forum help out the people there, if you do it on a blog comment the post itself. Whatever you do to get your link published make sure you give something back for what you receive.

5. Don’t take anything for granted.
Just posting a link somewhere doesn’t mean you will actually have it posted. So don’t get angry and don’t make a fuzz about it. Not all your work has a guaranteed result.

6. One link per website.
Maybe you will find a blog which allows to place your links automatically. The website might also have a very high PR. This doesn’t mean that you should spam all the pages of that website with your link. First of all search engines are OK with one link and don’t need to find it over and over again on the same website. Secondly it is not nice and you shouldn’t over-saturate your resources.

7. Don’t get banned.
Don’t try to trick Google or It will ban you. Better keep it all legal and white hat while link building or you will regret it on the long run.

8. Keep track.
Don’t lose yourself on the way. Keep the evidence of the sites where you have already posted your link and try to take a systematic approach. This will help you not become redundant.

9. Don’t waste your time.
There are so many sites out there where you can get back links and there are so many methods and techniques which you could try that it can get easy to spend your entire time link building. Stay away from this kind of behavior.
